Time is running out! Make your room reservations at the Riviera Resort & Spa, June 12-15 for our 92nd Annual Far West Ski Association Convention. Our special group discount for lodging ends on May 19. We cannot guarantee the ability to book a room after this date. Use the following link to book your room: https://book.passkey.com/e/50975089. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors! Optional events include a Pickleball Tournament, Legends Home Tour, Mini-Golf Tournament, Sante Spa Day, San Jacinto Aerial Tram and the 28th Annual Pub Crawl, with stops downtown during the Street Fair! A Pool Party and Club Happy Hour will precede the 39th Annual Silent Auction and Snowsports Trade Show on Friday evening. Packages will be up for bid at great prices! Ski resorts, tour operators and lodging facilities representatives will be available to answer questions to assist in planning your next snowsports or adventure trip. Also featured this year are hard goods and ski accessory items. Meet and greet World Freestyle Champions Genia Fuller, Scott Willingham and Rusty Taylor, at the International Skiing History Booth! A portion of the Silent Auction proceeds will benefit the United States Adaptive Recreation Center, located in Big Bear.
The Convention offers educational workshops, seminars and presentations designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills. This year’s Snowsports Leadership Academy welcomes past, present and future club and council leaders for a “crowd sharing” discussion of how your club handles common organization operations. The Public Affairs Panel will feature a powerful panel of experts on “Climate Change and the future of Snowsports,” and includes Tony Crocker, Erica Fleishman, Auden Schendler, Curtis Shuck and Dr. Thomas Spiglanin.
This year’s Keynote Speaker features a next generation snowsports communications leader, Samantha DeBoer, Director of Communications for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum. Ms. DeBoer will share communication strategies for multiple generations with a backdrop of an insider’s view into the Hall of Fame honored member program, and its importance to the legacy of snowsports.
The Awards Banquet on Saturday evening will acknowledge industry partners, snowsports builders, and volunteers who work tirelessly to promote snowsports. Among those being honored this year include recipients of the Snowsports Builder Award - Ross Anderson, five-time Hall of Fame Speed Skier and All-American Record Holder, the “Fastest Skier in American History,” and Phil Carter, owner of Phil’s Ski & Snowboard shop in Costa Mesa, providing personal service and snowsports expertise for over 40 years. The event will feature musical entertainment from “DJK Music Mixology.” A General Session for all club delegates, with the election of officers and Bylaws revisions, will be conducted on Sunday.
There are so many opportunities to participate, either as a voting delegate or to just attend the Friday Evening Silent Auction and Snowsports Trade Show, Saturday Educational Sessions, Luncheon or Awards Banquet.
