Far West Athletic Scholarship Program...

Far West Ski Association awards Athletic Scholarships to developing Alpine ski racers participating in programs within the Far West geographic region.

Special thanks to our sponsors, Whitefish Mountain Resort, Grouse Mountain Lodge and Schure Sports, Inc., the makers of Karbon brand ski clothing and Far West Racing Association, we are able to fund scholarships ranging in value from $250 to $1,500.

Scholarships assist athletes who are committed to pursuing a competitive Alpine racing program. Scholarship funds may be used to offset training expenses and competition entrance fees, but may not be used for personal travel or equipment.

    Far West Ski Foundation

The Far West Ski Foundation augments the Athletic Scholarship Program through funds raised by direct contributions. The Foundation makes its scholarship selections with an eye toward expectations of the long-term contributions the student-athlete may make to the skisports community and the larger community as well.

    Scholarship Criteria

Scholarships are awarded according to a weighted set of criteria. The four criteria include:
    • Athletic performance in four Alpine Disciplines as recorded by USSA
    • Academic Achievement
    • Community Service
    • Financial Need
All applicants are ranked according to these criteria and reviewed by a set of judges with long experience as racing officials. The judges make their selections and the results merged to pick the student-athletes for the coming racing season.
